Need to blow off some steam? Come sing your heart out at La Chandelle, an intimate Tokyo spot with a somewhat irresistible split personality: fine wine bar on the left, Champagne karaoke studio on the right. One minute you’re choosing what to drink; the next, you’re picking which song to cue for a full, possibly questionable, vocal commitment.

At La Chandelle drinks are not an afterthought, wine and Champagne play a centre role with karaoke the added bonus. The wine experience here is fully part of the pleasure, whether you’re easing into the evening over a glass or raising one after a particularly ambitious chorus. The setting is intimately small, retro and comfortable. Stepping into La Chandelle, greeted by Maduko and her team feels like stepping into a well kept secret.

What makes La Chandelle especially easy to love, though, is the hospitality. Hungry? Order your favourite Uber Eats (am looking at you Piazzakaya) to the venue. The team will provide plates and cutlery, to match the gorgeous Zelto stemware you will enjoy your wines in. It’s a simple touch, but exactly the sort of thoughtful detail that makes you want to stay for just one more, song and glass of wine that is.
Come early and make La Chandelle your first stop before heading out into Tokyo. Or arrive later, when the conversation has loosened up and someone inevitably announces that a night out in Tokyo is not a real night out unless you hit the karaoke tunes. Either way, there’s wine, Champagne, a microphone and very little reason to rush off. Open Monday to Saturday 6pm-2am. Walk-ins welcome, reservation for karaoke via Insta DM recommended.
